What's the difference between a boot, medium and large mobility scooter?
Boot scooters are compact and designed with portability in mind. They're generally a good choice for shorter journeys and customers who need something that can be transported more easily.
Medium mobility scooters provide additional comfort and capability while remaining relatively manageable.
Large mobility scooters are designed for customers wanting greater comfort and capability and are generally better suited to longer journeys and more demanding use.
If you're unsure which scooter is appropriate for you, please contact us before booking.
Can you help me choose the right equipment?
Absolutely.
We appreciate that not everybody knows which type of scooter, wheelchair or mobility aid they need.
Contact the Move Devon team and we'll explain the available options and help you understand which products may be suitable for your requirements.
Where you require clinical or medical advice about your individual needs, you should speak to an appropriate healthcare professional.
Is there a maximum weight for mobility scooters and wheelchairs?
Yes. Mobility equipment has a manufacturer-specified maximum user weight.
This varies between products.
You must not use equipment if you exceed the manufacturer's maximum weight recommendation. If you're unsure which equipment is suitable, please contact us before booking.
Is the equipment cleaned between hires?
Yes.
Our equipment is checked and prepared between hires. We take the cleanliness, condition and appropriate maintenance of our hire equipment seriously.
Will you show me how to use a mobility scooter?
Where required, we can provide an explanation or demonstration of how to operate the equipment.
Customers should also follow any operating instructions and manufacturer's guidance supplied with the equipment.
If you're unsure about anything, please ask us before using the scooter.
Can somebody else use the scooter I've hired?
The equipment is hired for the intended user identified as part of the booking.
You should not allow another person to use the equipment where doing so would be unsafe or contrary to the Hire Terms & Conditions.
Equipment must never be sold, sub-hired or otherwise transferred to somebody else.
Can I use a mobility scooter in the rain?
Mobility scooters are designed for outdoor use, but electrical components still need to be protected from excessive water and severe weather.
Customers are responsible for taking reasonable precautions to protect hired equipment and should follow the manufacturer's guidance provided for their scooter.
What happens if my scooter or equipment develops a fault?
Contact Move Devon as soon as possible.
If continuing to use the equipment could be unsafe, stop using it until you've spoken to us.
We'll assess the problem and, where appropriate and reasonably possible, arrange a repair, replacement or another suitable solution.
Please don't attempt significant repairs or modifications yourself.
